You’ve Been Here Before

My palms began to sweat and my heart raced as I read the message. I could feel the sudden headache as my vision became blurry and I felt I was about to faint. “Breathe” I kept telling myself. “Just calm down and breathe”. A few hours after I’ve composed myself, It dropped in my spirit “You Have Been Here Before, you know what to do!”

I have heard the phrase that lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice. I am not sure how true that phrase is, but I am assuming that even if lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice, lightning still continues to strike. That’s how I was feeling this particular day. It might have been a different place in my life, but it was the same “lightning” that struck.

It almost broke me because the hit was so powerful! I have dealt with this hit before just in a different form. I have already fought this battle so why am I allowing this to consume me? Have you ever found yourself fighting the same battles, people, or situations over and over just in a different setting?

REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE
Shortly after I composed myself I received a text message from a friend. The message reads, “There are few modern-day women in creation that have tried in so many ways as hard as you have….one idea after the other, one concept after the other, and so far you haven’t failed but have garnered invaluable experiences that are quintessential ingredients to take u to the pinnacle of success, without which u would not be able to appreciate the fullness thereof……when u finally reach the top u will be so deserving of all the success that u have reaped .. . I have watched u over the many years ….there is a God ….just be patient …” I am grateful for my friend for reminding me who I am. When you understand who you are, the battles become easier. So, KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

“Even in the most uneventful of our lives, we are called upon to choose our battles…”

― Arundhati Roy, The Ministry of Utmost Happiness

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ANOTHER BATTLE
Life is a journey with many roads to cross. There will always be battles to face. Some were placed in our lives to make us strong and give us wisdom.
― Sanjeev Himachali said “Not everything that comes our way needs to be overpowered or won. At times we need to ignore many things and that’s what we call FOCUS. Choose your battles, wisely. Knowing when to play and when to sit on the sidelines…when to lead and when to follow… it’s called WISDOM – a key element for staying focused to reach your destination…your goal. We cannot stop the noises around us, but we can choose to close our ears to the noises.” There will always be another battle.

YOU ARE ALREADY EQUIPPED

One of my favorite bible stories is that of the life of Joseph. If you are not familiar with it, then go and read it. Joseph was thrown in a ditch by his brothers and was left to die. Then they took him out and sold him to the Midianites. The Midianites sold him as a slave in Egypt. He interpreted dreams and made his way out of slavery into Potiphar’s house. Then Potiphar’s wife lied about him and he was placed in prison. Again, he interpreted dreams and made his way to becoming the Prime Minister of Egypt! All of the battles in Joseph’s life were training him and equipping him for the role he would later take on as Prime Minister, where he provided for the nation of Israel when they were going through a famine. (Genesis 39) So you see, you are being equipped for where God is taking you.

So the next time “lightning strikes” in your life, do not get into a panic attack. Just remember, you’ve been here before!

“It is the battles you choose to fight and win that determine how much you can accomplish and how far you can go in this life.”

― Victor Kwegyir, Quotable Quotes for Business: Lessons for Success

This was great, loved the example of Joseph, and your friend reminded you who you are! Sometimes we don’t get the luxury of choosing our battles, but as long as we fight with dignity pride and strength with a fair and just heart the victory will be all more great.

Thought provoking! The pivotal ‘know who you are’ is key to finding your way and fighting your battles
